Our 2nd annual "Celebrate Alabama" was a great success. Numbers may have been smaller than last year but there were some definite top riders and shooters in this group. We started out Friday night with a 3 stage warm up, with 20 shooters and 2 wranglers. Overall winner with a total time of 55.078 afer 3 clean stages was Sam Andress - reserve title for Friday night went to Josh Ingle with a total time of 60.052 and clean.
Recently we had the opportunity to travel to San Antonio for a long awaited vacation! Before the trip became a reality Ed and Kathi Kilpatrick had decided to go to Bandera, Texas to participate in "Celebrate Bandera". They were signed up for a clinic with "Outlaw" Annie Bianco, CMSA match and to participate in a "Wild West Show". After much consideration Terry decided he would join in on the fun for the CMSA match. There were 52 shooters from level 1 to level 6.
Well September has come and gone and Southern Crossfire got back in full swing with the Xtreme Horsemanship Clinic put on by Eric and Sharyl Anderson, followed by a 4 stage match. Then on Sunday morning a wonderful message of faith brought to us by Reverand David Baker to gear everyone up for the 4 stage "Shoot Out"!
We had a small but great group of shooters show up for our August match! Congratulations go out to Ross Kramer for overall win for both Saturday and Sunday! Sam Andress was 2nd on Saturday and Dennis Geer was 2nd on Sunday! We welcomed newcomer and new shooter Cret from Tuscaloosa - hope you will come back in the near future! Our ladies did a flip flop with Shannon Andress being top lady on Saturday and Nolah McDaniel took the top spot on Sunday.
For the second year Southern Crossfire hosted the Alabama State Championship. We welcomed shooters from all over the State of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee and one family from the State of Texas. We had a total of 32 shooters for the Friday night warm up and 51 total shooters for the Main match on Friday and Saturday. Our grand entry was led by our own "Woody and Willie" bringing in Old Glory and Grand Marshall for the morning was Mary Jeffers from Jeffers Vet Supply. They led the parade of shooters around the arena for our opening prayer and National Anthem. And then to get things started on the right foot Mary fired the first shot to start our competition. It was started with our Calvary class with 3 competitors, Greg Jackson, Seth Clemmons and Ed Kilpatrick - results listed in the link below.
An absolutely fun filled weekend with 51 different cowboy mounted shooters, 5 wranglers, all ready to have fun and compete for the title of the Alabama champ! It all started Friday night with a points only warm up shoot - 31 participants competed for a three stage event. Overall winner for Friday night was Eddie Vanderslice with a total time of 58.261 for three stages. Then we started off Saturday morning with our Grand Entry Captain Thomas Block led the way with the American flag and the Calvary class followed, then the Alabama flag and shooters after that. It was a wonderful sight to watch.
The February shoot was dominated by the girls! It was soggy on Saturday and then it turned into a BEAUTIFUL day on Sunday! Join us for the next shoot, March 23-24 for a Mounted Shooting Association match. The CMSA Alabama State Championship shoot is in May!
